Abstract

Phytotherapy is the therapy that uses medicines whose active constituents are plants or vegetable derivatives. The plants used for this purpose are called medicinal. Even with all the diversity of existing species, the potential of using plants as a source of new medicines in humans is still under-explored. Objective: To identify aspects related to the use of herbal medicines in the healing of pressure lesions. Method: Review of type scoping review in the Pubmed, Scielo, Medline and Lilacs databases, from the crossword of the keywords “herbal medicine”, “healing”, “pressure injury” and “human”. Results: Ten articles were included in this review, 5 made in Brazil. The methods used in the researches, most (30%) were clinical trials. Most (30%) articles were published in 2016. In relation to the categories listed, with regard to studies related to the use of herbal medicines, the peculiarities related to pressure and healing injuries were analyzed and the studies were organized according to the level of evidence to make them more accessible to professionals. Conclusion: There were clinical studies on the subject in humans studies of clinical evidence, costs and benefits are need.
