Abstract

Objective: To identify the therapeutic itinerary of pediatric patients with cystic fibrosis, understanding their place in the Health Care Network and the role of Pharmaceutical Services in their care. Methods: Qualitative study carried out with 11 caregivers of patients treated at the Pediatric Pulmonology Ambulatory of a university hospital in the south of Brazil between March and April 2015. The applied questionnaires were submitted to thematic analysis. Results: Five themes were identified: (I) illness discovery and the beginning of the therapeutic itinerary, (II) bureaucracy, politics and judiciary system, (III) health assistance and the apparent strengths, (IV) social interactions and (V) circular routes and the failures in communication. Conclusions: A circular route between the ambulatory, the state’s public pharmacy and the patients associations is observed. The main findings include the RAS’s disorganization, the pharmaceutical services’ inefficiency and the difficulties of communication.
